Bacchus is the Roman god of wine and celebration. His cult was very important to Roman people because they believed that living in the moment cause greater happiness. In this way of thinking they were right, but something must also be said for moderation. Wine was often a great center of attention when the Romans entertained, particularly in orgies. This is where the term "bacchanal" originated.
